Understanding the Cosmic Wheel and how we live with in circles, cycles and spirals.

Like a window out in space imagine yourself viewing our planet from afar. In the background you can see the many constellations and you can simultaneously see our planet every month with it’s blue atmosphere and moon phase every day of the month.

In the center is the sun and in a sense, humanity is also inthe center pentacle as a witness to the great Mystery with our 5 senses.  The journey begins with the Winter Solstice on the Moon phase dated Dec 21st. That is time that the Earth’s northern hemisphere tilts back to the sun and to the light.  It is when the growing cycle begins again.   The days of the week are color coded as follows, yellow; Sunday, green; Monday, Light blue; Tuesday; dark blue; Wednesday, Purple; Thursday, red; Friday, orange; Saturday.  The Winter Solstice is also when the zodiac sign of Capricorn begins and the symbol of the constellations are shown in their corresponding color around the blue ring.  The Solstice marks when the first hints of light or yellow would change the cold winter blue to a blue green as the planet slowly begins to warm until summer Solstice when we turn away from the light and then begins to cool again. The 12 notes of the sound cycle called the circle of 5th s are also shown to correlate with the 12 colors.   Follow the numbered moons clockwise around the Sun, and counter clockwise around the Earths through the rest of the months, which are connected with words that summarize the prevailing energy relative to the natural growing cycle and personal goal cycle.  Surrounding the wheel the blue frame contains the Element, human relation to the element, Animal Totem and Tarot Suit and prevailing energy as it relates to the 4 directions color energy.

In the East, Yellow is associated with Air, our breath, the new sun rise, creativity, new ideas and thought, the animal totem is Hawk. Air is also associated with the Tarot Suit of Swords or Spades in a regular card deck.

In the South, Red is associated with the Earth, our body, trust and  innocence, the animal totem is Deer. Earth is also associated with trees which are represented by the Tarot Suit of Wands or Clubs in a regular card deck.

In the West, Purple is associated with Water, our blood and our deep subconscious and intuition, animal totem is Dolphin. Water is associated with the Tarot Suit of Cups or Hearts in the regular card deck.

In the North, Blue is associated with the hot blue flame of fire, our Spirit, wisdom and understanding and knowledge, animal totem is the illusive white Wolf. Fire is also associated with the Tarot Suit of Pentacles, .  Pentacles are also associated with power or money and it would be Diamonds in the regular card deck.

Finally our inner circle is surrounded by the symbols of the I ching, representing the Yin and Yang of the whole, duality of existence, the black and white the up and down, etc. etc.  To understand this calendar is to more fully understand the forces in which we live and ultimately what is called the great mystery.      Our  current calendar is an overlooked force in our lives because few of us ever stop to question the effects that it has on us and we fail to see the big picture.  We simply accept grade school teachings and memorize the names of the months, holidays and days as if it is some unchangeable ultimate truth.

Many aspects of our calendar are outdated remnants of the Roman empire and the Roman Catholic Religion and have many repercussions on how society as a whole functions.  Few know that the months our actually named after Roman gods and goddesses and that Julius Caesar created and named the month of July after himself and August after Augustus Caesar, thereby shifting the rest of the months.  The Latin meaning of the words is now wrong. September means "7th month," yet it's the 9th month of the year; October means "8th month," yet it's our 10th month; November means "9th month," yet it's our 11th month; and December means "10th month" yet it is the 12th month. The names are now illogical and meaningless or celebrate gods and rulers that we no longer worship or admire.

In addition, most Americans think of the Celts and Druids as only being from Ireland.  They are not aware that their own heritage may be Celtic and Druid because these people once existed in central Europe as far south as Germany before the Roman Empire conquered and converted most to Christianity.   It was the early Germanic peoples who celebrated the Solstice and brought the Evergreen tree into the home. Christianity overshadowed their traditions, and that is why the words “Christmas” and “Solstice,” and “birth of the Son” and “birth of the Sun” sound so similar.   If we think of the Calendar in terms of the natural growing cycle, then certainly the northern hemisphere’s Winter Solstice marks the point in time when the Earth begins to tilt back towards the sun on it’s axis.  It is the true Solar New Year and return to the light. On the color wheel it would be represented as the first point where the cold Blue energy is turned to Blue Green by the influence of Yellow.   If we can accept that our current New Year is arbitrary and re-evaluate the whole year in terms of the growing cycle we come to see that our current calendar’s white squared blocks of time known as weeks, are just man’s invention to regulate production and that many of our Holidays have become commercial sales tools.

Few of us now realize that when the Government gives federal employees one specific religious Holiday off, it is not fair to those of other faiths who pay taxes.   If the Government instead gave a religious holiday to the federal employees to use when they wanted, it would it alleviate congestion on our roads and at airports, and possibly keep Government offices open and be equitable in our multi-cultural society. It would allow families to decide when to celebrate their own traditions.

The Cosmic Wheel Calendar is a new way to look at time, yet it is also a very old way to look at time.  To know and understand this calendar is to be part of the Conscious Revolution to heal multi-cultural mankind's relationship with the planet by reconnecting with our personal growth cycle and the natural growing cycle.  Revolution means to come back in a full circle, Conscious Revolution means to knowingly come around to a higher level, like a spiral. There is no reason we have to stay locked in an outdated view of time, but first we have to change the way we think about it!
